Happy Valentines Day!
From Weirdgurl & One Punch Man YES ! We love anime too ! Oh, and take some time to not only love on your partner (if you’re involved) but yourself! A lot of feelings usually swirl around Valentines Day, more so when you’re single. It can be annoying as hell when people want to set you up, or invite you to third wheel with them, and other single remedies they believe will fix that “affliction” you have being alone. not that these are bad things🤷🏾♀️ BUT when you’re absolutely fine with learning to love and enjoy self it can be ..tiresome.... Factor mental illness amongst those mixed emotions...Lort to be honest I’m worn out thinking about it ...🙄 So my relationship friends you know who you are *gives glaring stare* PLEASE ! DO NOT set your friends or family up without permission, and other terrible ass single curing remedies....seriously...stop lol To my singles ! Go enjoy yourself today ! What ever that means for you ! If that means : -just making it out bed ! Great one step is better than none at all. -showering and changing your clothes to binge watch Netflix! That’s fine ! -taking yourself on a date (which use to be my personal favorite lol) DO IT! Don’t be shy unless you suffer from social anxiety then take the time to work on that, if you can. Maybe see if you can enjoy a social setting without the panic involved. If you can’t at the time that’s okay too. -Working or working out ( make that paper and get that glo up) Do something you thought you couldn’t do the day before, that can contribute to who you are or want to be. <3 One last thing ...even if you haven’t fully learned to love yourself that does not meant you can’t be a worthy partner to someone if you choose. well ...That’s All Folks (WarnerBro better not sue me 😂😭) -Weirdgurl Mood song: Xavier Omar – Afraid
In honor of being open
A written "spoken word" about anxiety TRIGGERWARNING FOR THOSE WHO SUFFER FROM ANXIETY and there are obscenities in here but if that is your focus of my spoken word you don't understand and I won't need to share my mental illness with you ....at any rate enjoy ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ "What is it?! SPIT IT OUT!!! Damn ! Why won't these fucking words come out?! Jesus Christ! I just want to fucking shout but my God, who would hear me out? For these cries forever echo in halls where there are infinite walls and it all.. comes.. back My mental instability is forever killing me.. so I scream ... Nothing... I open my eyes wide and to my non surprise its my reality smacking me... I close them again.... And just like that (snaps) I'm back to my cerebral jail cell where every second is HELL there and I don't even know why... I cry... I throw my head back in reply.. SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE! But not a sound LET ME OUT OF HERE DAMN IT ! Swear to God sometimes I want to leave this fucking planet... Shhhh! What's that? Oh my God... He's back! I fear an attack! What should I do? Fight back?! But before I can react.... A hand caresses me gently and as if almost instantly, that sweet touch was no longer such... And NOW I can't fucking breathe... {Gasp} LET GO OF ME! I knew it was you ANXIETY! Get your damn hands off of me! Not a sound from his lips as tighter he grips... My pulse begins to slip... Into darkness I dip... A voice in my ear slowly starts to appear and then soon it is clear... FIGHT! I throw a left and a right ! I scratch, And I bite I won't go down with out a phenomenal fight !" Let’s chat !
If you are a christian or a devout follower of any faith, do you feel that mental health is addressed enough or properly? If so, what are the different things being done to help? And if not, what can be done to help in this fight? Faith, Spirituality, and Community…
"In the African American community, family, community and spiritual beliefs tend to be great sources of strength and support. However, research has found that many African Americans rely on faith, family and social communities for emotional support rather than turning to health care professionals, even though medical or therapeutic treatment may be necessary. Faith and spirituality can help in the recovery process but should not be the only option you pursue. If spirituality is an important part of your life, your spiritual practices can be a strong part of your treatment plan. Your spiritual leaders and faith community can provide support and reduce isolation. Be aware that sometimes faith communities can be a source of distress and stigma if they are misinformed about mental health or do not know how to support families dealing with these conditions. Do rely on your family, community and faith for support, but you might also need to seek professional help. " -NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illnesses) My personal experience As an African American woman who identifies as a Christian, I know all too well the stigma that quite a few African American churches place on mental illness. Usually the African American churches are misinformed on what mental illnesses are, the help available to seek (OUTSIDE OF THE CHURCH) as well as just flat out not wanting to talk about it. How many times have you attempted to explain to a family or friend of the church just to be told the following? -“It’s the devil!” -“just pray about it” -“the Lord will handle it” -“Let go and let God!” -“God got a plan” -“Give it to the Lord” To be clear ! I am not discrediting these options BUT Everyone is not at the point where they can “Let Go & Let God” Or believe in the same faith of worship (if they believe at all) If they are choosing spiritual healing we help them get to the point where they are strong enough to “Let Go and Let God”. We all have a different journey…. So instead of just dismissing it and telling them to give to God, use a message that God (or whomever you worship) gives to you, to help that person gain the strength they need. I have been rooted in the church and I have lost my way plenty of times, and sometimes the last thing needed to hear was to “Let go & Let God”. When what I really needed was someone who would come to my level and connect with me in order to help me out of that dark place. So that i could even get the strength to pray about it, or Pursue any spiritual healing. We get caught up in being such “good” and “strong” Christian or what have you , that we forget that we are humans of flesh, and imperfect. Everyone can’t be you … Sometimes the last thing I need to hear while trying to find God is things about God. When my defenses are up I’m not going to receive the message about God as well as I feel I should. Talk to me like a person instead of another sinner that has lost their way…. and then we can have a real discussion. Are you ready to listen? Lets Talk! Well according to these good folks here-->
